Michael Gant

Michael grew up in the Pine Rivers Shire in North Brisbane and resides on the Sunshine Coast. He began writing songs and started learning the guitar at the age of 18. He did gigs around the local area in the late 80’s and early 90’s, then entered and won the Search for a Star title at Tamworth Country Music Festival and also won the Talent Quest at the National Gympie Muster in 1992. He then went on to win many prestigious awards such as the Starmaker Grand Finalist, Best New Talent Finalist, Sunstate Songwriters Award, Sunnie Awards winner for Best New Talent and Best Country Album in Queensland, Wallace Award winner for Male Country Vocalist of the year for four years running.

Michael recorded his album “Under the Southern Cross” with the Smokin Crawdads, a well-known Brisbane band, and the album was produced by Duncan Wood (Touchwood Studios) and Mike Smith in Brisbane. He has had radio air play and has supported and performed with top named artists Troy Cassar-Daley, Gina Jeffreys, Lee Kernaghan, Felicity Urquhart and Stella Parton.
